Welcome to course 7 😊🇩🇪

Man sagt, dass die Sieben eine Glückszahl ist, und in Deutschland gilt die Zahl 7 manchmal als 'magische Zahl' oder als heilig.

It is often said that seven is a lucky number, and in Germany, the number 7 is sometimes considered a "magic number" or even sacred.

Well, whether that’s true or not, I do think course 7 is a fantastic addition to the 3 Minute German series—although, of course, I might be a little biased since I wrote it!

In this course, which contains lessons 54 to 62, we’ll be diving into lots of useful language features and expanding our German vocabulary even further to help us communicate in new situations.

To begin with, we'll be looking at more areas where German and English differ slightly, and why you can't always translate things word-for-word. The question word "woher" for instance, is a perfect example; it's a ew word that we can use to say "where ... from" in English.

We'll encounter several new Vocabulary Expansion Sheets throughout this course, giving us plenty of opportunities to add more detail and variety to our sentences. We'll learn the words letztes and nächstes, as well as some handy new adverbs such as seit, bis and vor.

Course 7 comes with a new tense. We've already covered the present perfect tense quite extensively, so now it's time to move on to the present tense. As the name suggests, this tense will allow us to talk about what's happening in the present. We'll look at how to form the present tense for "Sie" using regular verbs and then we'll have a look at the group of irregular verbs who do their own things. We'll also look at another tense that is linked to the present tense: the imperative.

The imperative is the grammatical term for "commands", so you can use it to tell people what to do, or equally what not to do. This is quite a simple tense to learn once you've got to grips with the present tense.

So, that's a little bit about what you'll be learning in this seventh course, but of course there's plenty more, including new verbs, new adjectives and adverbs, talking about the calendar in German, and looking at some new structures.

I hope you enjoy 😊
